Tier 2 – The Legacy of Dragons

**Tier 2 play**

The sun dipped low on the horizon, casting long shadows across the cobblestone streets of Eldrasil, a vibrant town known for its mystical charm and bustling market square. As you step into the busy bazaar, the air is tinged with the scent of roasted meats, sweet pastries, and exotic spices from far-off lands. Merchants shout their wares in colorful banter, while joyous laughter mingles with the sounds of clinking coins and the occasional clatter of a dropped basket.

However, beneath the surface of this lively scene lies a puzzling tension in the air—a feeling like electricity before a storm. Your quest begins in this very town, where you’ve gathered to investigate strange occurrences linked to a peculiar artifact that has recently surfaced. Eyewitnesses speak of an eerie glow emanating from the remains of an ancient altar deep within the forest to the north, said to be the last known resting place of the legendary dragon god, Pyrasorath. This artifact appears to be connected to the revival of dragonkind, which legends claim had perished during a great war, but now—something feels amiss.

As you gather information from locals over tankards of mead, a voice breaks through the chatter. An old elf with weathered skin and piercing blue eyes approaches you. “You seek the truth about dragons, do you? I can feel it. But be warned, adventurers; the forest holds more than just ancient secrets. There are whispers of a dark cult that seeks to harness this artifact’s power for their own nefarious purposes.”

Equipped with fresh leads, your party decides to venture into the forest as twilight descends. The trees loom tall, their branches swaying like gnarled fingers reaching for the dimming sky. The deeper you go, the more surreal the landscape becomes—glowing mushrooms create paths of luminescence, and the sound of chirping crickets is replaced by a low, rhythmic pulsing that resonates through the ground beneath your feet.

After a harrowing trek that tests both your bravery and resolve, you arrive at the ancient altar. The structure is adorned with engravings of dragons in flight, winding around columns overgrown with emerald vines. But what catches your eye is the artifact itself, a shimmering orb resting atop the crumbling pedestal, radiating a power that feels almost alive.

Suddenly, the air crackles, and a figure cloaked in shadows steps from the trees, revealing itself to be Altharion, a charismatic yet ruthless sorcerer who commands a band of zealots devoted to restoring dragonkind—a plan that involves severing the connection between mortals and the artifact.

**Boss Enemy: Altharion the Dragon Whisperer**

**AC:** 15

**HP:** 60

**Attack:** Spellcasting (Use spells like Fire Bolt, Mage Armor, and Summon Draconic Spirit)

**Abilities:**

– **Dark Command:** Once per encounter, Altharion can command the zealots, granting them advantage on their next attack roll.

– **Legacy of Fire:** The artifact grants him immunity to fire damage and allows him to unleash a fiery burst as a reaction (3d6 fire damage, DC 14 Dexterity save for half damage).

The encounter with Altharion and his zealots is inevitable, and the fate of both the artifact and the potential return of dragons rests in your hands. Will you defeat him and safeguard the artifact, or will your ambitions awaken a force of destruction? The choice is yours.

As you engage in this climactic showdown, the forest around you seems to pulse with magic, the very ground waiting in anticipation for who will emerge victorious. The legacy of the dragons beckons, but the path is littered with perils, choices, and a destiny that only you can forge.
