Tier 2 – Shadows Over Lyrian’s Hollow

**Tier 2 play**

In the vibrant and bustling realm of Eldoria, where magic weaves through the air like a gentle breeze, whispers of dark happenings have spread like wildfire. The town of Lyrian's Hollow, renowned for its enchanting markets and lively festivals, is now shrouded in fear. A shadowy figure has begun stalking its streets, abducting townsfolk under the cover of night. The townspeople whisper of a nefarious sorcerer, thought to be using dark magic to extract secrets and fears from his victims.

The players find themselves in the heart of Lyrian's Hollow, called upon by the town’s desperate mayor, Elara. She breathlessly recounts the recent disappearances and implores the party to investigate. Each night, a new victim is claimed, and a potent curse lingers in the air, causing strange phenomena—lights flickering, eerie sounds echoing through the streets, and an unsettling chill that seeps into the bones.

**Adventure Hook:**

The party's first stop is the bustling market square, where they can gather clues from frightened merchants and townsfolk. A local herbalist, an elderly woman named Maelis, recalls seeing a hooded figure moving through the alleys. She mentions a forgotten well on the outskirts of town, rumored to be a portal to a hidden lair.

**Exploration Component:**

As the adventurers venture towards the well, they must navigate through twisting paths and overgrown vines, where magical creatures like mischievous sprites and temperamental elementals may hinder or help their journey. The night sky is alive with stars, but the moon is hidden behind dark clouds, adding to the suspense of their exploration.

**Enemy Encounter:**

Upon reaching the well, the party discovers that it is a ruse—a gateway to the sorcerer's lair beneath the town. As they descend, they are met with a cadre of enchanted guardians, twisted creatures formed from the sorcerer’s dark magic.

**Boss Enemy: The Dark Sorcerer, Thalor**

– **Spellcasting:** Can cast spells such as *Shadow Bolt* (1d10 necrotic damage) and *Fear* (must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be frightened for 1 minute).

– **Dark Veil:** Once per encounter, Thalor can shroud the area in darkness, granting disadvantage on attacks for one round.

– **Life Drain:** Melee attack (1d8 necrotic damage), heals Thalor for half the damage dealt.
