In the heart of the vibrant city of Eldoria, where colorful banners flutter in the breeze and the air is thick with the scent of exotic spices, a dark shadow has begun to loom—a wave of illness has swept through the district known as Brighthaven. This bustling area, known for its lively markets and joyful populace, is now filled with whispers of despair. The townsfolk, once merry, now wear weary expressions, and some have fallen ill, unable to work or even leave their homes.
As the sun sets, casting a golden hue over the cobbled streets, the party finds themselves drawn to the local tavern, The Gilded Griffin, where the atmosphere is heavy with tension. Inside, a group of worried citizens huddles together, speaking in hushed tones. The tavern keeper, a stout dwarf named Borin, approaches the party with a worried frown.
"Adventurers!" he exclaims, beckoning them closer. "Please, you must help us! The illness spreading through Brighthaven is unnatural. It started after the local alchemist, Elara, began testing a new potion. But she hasn’t been seen in days! We fear something sinister has happened."
The party learns that Elara was close to discovering a powerful elixir that could enhance sick pay benefits for workers, a revolutionary idea that would uplift many in the city. However, her research was abruptly cut short when strange creatures began to roam the streets at night, spreading the sickness even further.
The party must investigate Elara’s workshop, which lies at the edge of the city, shrouded in an otherworldly mist. As they navigate through the winding alleys, they encounter mutated creatures—twisted forms of the city's beloved pets—now corrupted by Elara's experiments gone wrong. The party must fend off these creatures, using both combat and cunning to reach the workshop.
Upon arriving, they find the door ajar, revealing a dimly lit interior filled with bubbling cauldrons and scattered scrolls. However, Elara is nowhere to be found. Instead, they discover an alchemical creation gone awry—a powerful entity known as the Sickness Wraith, born from the failed potion and fueled by the despair of the townsfolk.
