Tier 2 – The Shadow Over Eldoria A Festival of Lumina Adventure

Tier 2 play

In the vibrant city of Eldoria, where magic crackles in the air like summer lightning, whispers of a dark shadow fall over the annual Festival of Lumina. This celebration, known for its grand displays of light magic and joyful gatherings, is jeopardized by the sudden disappearance of the city's most cherished artifact: the Radiant Prism. Legend speaks of its power to amplify light magic, bringing joy and prosperity to all who bask in its glow.

Adventurers from near and far have been summoned to investigate this troubling occurrence. As your party gathers in the bustling market square, the aroma of spiced meat and sweet pastries wafts through the air, mingling with the laughter and excitement of festival-goers. However, beneath the festive surface lies a growing unease. The city guard is on high alert, and rumors spread of shadowy figures lurking in the alleys, watching and waiting.

Your adventure begins at the heart of the celebration, where the city’s elder, a wise and ancient elf named Eldrin, stands ready to brief the party. “I fear that the Radiant Prism has been stolen by a sinister cult known as the Umbral Veil,” he explains, his voice grave. “They seek to plunge our world into darkness using its power. You must retrieve it before they can complete their malevolent ritual during the height of the festival under the Blood Moon.”

### Setting the Scene

As Eldrin speaks, the sun begins to dip below the horizon, casting a warm golden glow over the city. The colorful banners flutter in the breeze, and music fills the air, creating a stark contrast to the weight of the task ahead. Players should feel the excitement and tension as the festival transitions from day to night.

### Exploration Component

The party can gather clues from various festival stalls. They might overhear merchants discussing strange occurrences, or perhaps a fortune-teller can reveal hints of the Umbral Veil’s hideout. As they gather information, they have the option to test their skills — be it through persuasion, investigation, or insight — to uncover more about the cult’s plans.

### The Showdown

After gathering information, the party learns that the cult has taken refuge in the catacombs beneath Eldoria, where they plan to harness the Prism's power. As the adventurers descend into the shadowy tunnels, they face a series of challenges: traps set to ward off intruders, illusions that confuse their path, and lesser cultists who will defend their hideout fiercely.

The final confrontation awaits in a cavern illuminated by an eerie green light. At the center lies the Radiant Prism, now tainted by dark magic. The cult leader, a formidable sorceress named Zarethra, wields this corrupted power with malicious intent.

### Boss Stats: Zarethra, Cult Leader

– **AC:** 15

– **HP:** 120

– **Attack:**

– **Shadow Bolt:** +6 to hit, 2d10 necrotic damage.

– **Arcane Burst (Recharge 5-6):** A wave of dark energy radiates from Zarethra, creating a 20-foot radius sphere. Each creature in that area must make a DC 16 Dexterity saving throw, taking 4d8 necrotic damage on a failed save, or half as much on a successful one.

### Conclusion

If the party successfully defeats Zarethra and restores the Radiant Prism, the city of Eldoria will bask in its light once more, and they will be celebrated as heroes in a grand ceremony. However, if they fail, the festival will descend into chaos, and darkness will consume the city, leaving the adventurers with the weight of their choices.

As the adventure unfolds, be sure to emphasize the sights, sounds, and emotional stakes of the Festival of Lumina, creating an immersive experience for your players.
