Tier 2 – The Quest for the Celestial Compass

**Tier 2 play**

In the vibrant realm of Eldoria, where magic flows like rivers and the skies shimmer with the colors of the arcane, whispers of an ancient artifact have begun to echo through the lands. Legends speak of the Celestial Compass, a mystical device said to guide its bearer to the fabled Lost Planet of Earth—a world of untold treasures and forgotten knowledge. However, the path to this legendary place is fraught with peril, as dark forces covet the Compass for their own nefarious purposes.

As the sun sets, casting a golden glow over the sprawling city of Arcanis, your party gathers in the bustling marketplace. The air is thick with the scent of exotic spices and the sounds of laughter and music. Amidst the revelry, a cloaked figure approaches, their eyes glinting with urgency. They reveal themselves to be a scholar, desperate for assistance. "The Compass has been stolen!" they exclaim, glancing around nervously. "A band of mercenaries, led by the notorious Shadowblade, seeks to harness its power. If they succeed, they will plunge our world into chaos!"

Your quest begins in the heart of Arcanis, where you must gather information about the mercenaries' hideout. The scholar provides you with a few leads: a tavern known for its rowdy patrons, a thieves' guild rumored to have connections, and a mysterious oracle who speaks in riddles. Choose wisely, for each path holds its own challenges and opportunities.

**Exploration Component: The Tavern of Twisted Tales**

As you enter the tavern, the atmosphere shifts dramatically. The air is thick with smoke and laughter, and the walls are adorned with trophies of past adventures. Here, you must navigate through drunken patrons, engage in games of chance, or perhaps even partake in a bardic performance to charm the locals into revealing the whereabouts of the mercenaries.

**Investigation Component: The Thieves' Guild**

Should you choose to visit the thieves' guild, you will find yourself in a labyrinth of shadows and secrets. Here, you must negotiate with the guild leader, a cunning rogue named Lirael, who may offer you information in exchange for a favor. Be prepared for deception and the possibility of a betrayal, as not all in the guild can be trusted.

**Enemy Encounter: The Shadowblade**

As you gather clues, the time comes to confront the mercenaries. The Shadowblade, a master assassin with a reputation for ruthlessness, awaits you in their hideout—a crumbling fortress on the outskirts of the city. The Shadowblade is cunning and skilled in the art of stealth, using the shadows to their advantage.

**Basic Stats for Shadowblade:**

– **Armor Class:** 15

– **Hit Points:** 60

– **Speed:** 30 ft.

– **Abilities:**

– **Multiattack:** The Shadowblade makes two attacks with their daggers.

– **Dagger Attack:** +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 1d8 + 4 piercing damage.

– **Shadow Step:** Once per turn, the Shadowblade can teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space they can see that is in dim light or darkness.
