Tier 2 – The Festival of Lights A Race Against Darkness

**Tier 2 play**

As the sun sets over the bustling city of Eldoria, the streets are alive with the sounds of laughter and music. Colorful lanterns sway gently in the evening breeze, casting a warm glow on the cobblestone roads. Your party finds themselves drawn to the annual Festival of Lights, a celebration that marks the winter solstice. However, the festive atmosphere is tinged with an unsettling rumor: a powerful artifact known as the Celestial Prism has gone missing from the Grand Temple, and whispers of dark forces at play have begun to circulate.

The festival is in full swing, with merchants hawking their wares—enchanted trinkets, shimmering potions, and exotic foods fill the air with tantalizing scents. As the party mingles with the crowd, they overhear a frantic conversation between two temple guards. "We must find the Prism before the Shadow Cult uses its power to plunge the city into darkness!" one guard exclaims, his voice laced with panic.

The party can choose to investigate the disappearance of the Celestial Prism, leading them to the heart of the festival where they can gather clues. Perhaps they speak to a nervous merchant who claims to have seen cloaked figures lurking near the temple, or a bard whose song hints at a secret entrance to the temple’s vaults.

As they delve deeper into the mystery, the party discovers that the Shadow Cult plans to use the Prism during the height of the festival, when the veil between realms is thinnest. They must race against time to retrieve the artifact before it falls into the wrong hands.

The investigation leads the party to a hidden alcove behind the festival stage, where they find a secret meeting of the cult. The leader, a sinister figure named Malakar, stands before a swirling portal, the Prism glowing ominously in his hands. He is flanked by two cultists, ready to defend their master.

– **Attack:** Shadow Bolt (ranged spell attack, +6 to hit, 2d10 necrotic damage)

– **Special Ability:** Shadow Step (once per turn, can teleport up to 30 feet to an unoccupied space in dim light or darkness)

As the party confronts Malakar, the stakes are high. They must use their skills and wits to outmaneuver the cultists, protect the city, and reclaim the Celestial Prism before darkness consumes Eldoria. Will they succeed in thwarting the cult's sinister plans, or will the Festival of Lights be forever shrouded in shadow? The fate of the city hangs in the balance!
