Tier 2 – The Enchanted Grove A Quest for the Lost Children

**Tier 2 play**

In a bustling city known as Eldoria, where magic flows as freely as the rivers and the air is thick with the scent of adventure, a peculiar event has stirred the hearts and minds of its citizens. A series of mysterious disappearances have been reported in the outskirts of the city, particularly in the Whispering Grove—a once-peaceful forest now shrouded in an unsettling aura. Children have gone missing, and rumors swirl about a dark force lurking among the trees.

As the sun sets, casting golden rays through the gnarled branches of the grove, your party stands at its edge, the vibrant colors of twilight painting the world in hues of purple and orange. The leaves rustle softly, whispering secrets only the brave dare to uncover. The townsfolk have pleaded for your aid, offering a modest reward for any heroes who can bring back the lost children and unravel the mystery behind their abduction.

Upon entering the grove, the air thickens with magic, and strange sounds echo around you—laughter that is not your own, rustling in the underbrush, and the distant chime of enchanted bells. You find a clearing where a circle of ancient stones stands, pulsating with an otherworldly light. As you approach, a flicker of movement catches your eye—a shadowy figure darting between the trees.

Your investigation leads you deeper into the grove, where you encounter the source of the disturbances: a mischievous Fae known as Lirael, who has taken the children to teach them the ways of magic in her enchanted realm, believing them to be chosen ones destined for greatness. However, her methods are questionable, and the children are frightened, trapped in a whimsical yet perilous dream.

To resolve this conflict, your party must confront Lirael and persuade her to release the children. Should negotiations fail, a battle ensues. The Fae, while playful, is cunning and possesses magical abilities that can turn the tide of combat.

**Basic Stats for Lirael, the Mischievous Fae:**

– **Armor Class:** 15

– **Hit Points:** 45

– **Speed:** 30 ft., fly 60 ft. (hover)

**Abilities:**

– **Spellcasting:** Lirael can cast spells from the Druid spell list, including *Entangle*, *Faerie Fire*, and *Sleep*.

– **Charmed Life:** Once per day, Lirael can choose to reroll a failed saving throw.

– **Illusory Mirage:** As a bonus action, Lirael can create an illusion of herself that lasts until the start of her next turn, granting her advantage on the next attack roll made against her.

Should your party manage to convince Lirael of the error of her ways, they can broker a deal to allow the children to return home while providing them with a glimpse of the wonders of magic. Alternatively, if they defeat her in battle, the children will be freed but left with lingering fear of the magical world.

As the adventure unfolds, players can explore various magical phenomena within the grove, uncover hidden secrets, and ultimately decide the fate of both Lirael and the children. Will they reclaim the innocence of the lost, or will they fall victim to the enchanting allure of the Fae? The choice is yours in this high-stakes adventure of intrigue and discovery.
