**Special Abilities**:

– **Assimilate**: When the Assimilator reduces a creature to 0 hit points, it can temporarily gain one of its abilities (one skill or saving throw) for 24 hours.

– **Mind Bind**: As a reaction, the Assimilator can impose disadvantage on an attack roll made against it if the attacker is affected by its Psychic Pulse ability.

**Actions**:

– **Multiattack**: The Assimilator makes two attacks: one with its Tendril and one with its Psychic Pulse.

– **Tendril**: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 15 (2d10 + 3) psychic damage. If the target is grappled, it must succeed on a DC 15 Strength saving throw or be blinded until the end of its next turn.

– **Psychic Pulse**: Ranged Spell Attack: +8 to hit, range 60 ft., one target. Hit: 22 (4d10) psychic damage. On a failed Intelligence saving throw (DC 16), the target is stunned until the end of its next turn.

**Description**:

The Assimilator is a being of shifting forms and engulfing shadows, born from the mingling of various plane energies. Once a mere observer of mortal conflicts, it has developed a keen desire to absorb the strengths of others, viewing them as assets in its quest for cosmic understanding. The Assimilator prefers to strike from the shadows, subtly confusing and debilitating its victims before moving in for the kill, often using its absorbing abilities to become a more formidable foe mid-battle. Sympathetic to the struggles of those who wander or intrude, it holds a strange admiration for their tenacity, yet it remains unyielding in its mission to devour and transform.
