Tier 2 – The Dark Tide of Rivermere

**Tier 2 play**

In the vibrant realm of Eldoria, where magic flows as freely as the rivers, a dark cloud looms over the coastal town of Rivermere. Once a picturesque haven known for its crystal-clear waters and thriving fishing industry, the town now suffers from a foul stench and murky waters, the result of a government-sanctioned sewage discharge that has poisoned the rivers and seas. The townsfolk, desperate and angry, have turned to you, brave adventurers, to uncover the truth and restore their beloved home.

As you arrive in Rivermere, the salty breeze carries the acrid scent of decay. The sun hangs low in the sky, casting an eerie glow over the town. You hear the distant cries of seagulls, but they sound more like mournful wails than cheerful calls. The streets are lined with dilapidated buildings, and the townspeople, weary and disheartened, cast suspicious glances your way.

Your investigation begins at the local tavern, The Soggy Seagull, where the barkeep, a grizzled half-orc named Grak, leans heavily against the bar, his eyes filled with concern. “You’re here to help, aren’t you?” he asks, his voice gravelly. “The government’s been dumping waste into our rivers for months now, and it’s killing our fish and poisoning our waters. We need proof, or we’ll never get them to stop!”

As you gather information, you learn of a secret meeting scheduled to take place in the abandoned lighthouse on the outskirts of town. Rumor has it that corrupt officials are conspiring with a nefarious sea witch, Morgathra, who has promised them power in exchange for her dark magic. The townsfolk believe she’s the one behind the sewage crisis, using it to weaken the town and gain control over the seas.

Your party sets out towards the lighthouse, the path winding through thick brambles and overgrown weeds. The air grows heavy with the scent of salt and decay as you approach the crumbling structure, its once-majestic tower now a shadow of its former glory. The sound of crashing waves echoes ominously as you step inside, the flickering light of your torches revealing damp walls and shattered glass.

Inside, you find the meeting in full swing. A group of officials, cloaked in shadows, huddle around a table, while Morgathra, a tall figure with flowing seaweed-like hair and piercing blue eyes, stands at the head, her voice smooth and enticing. “With the town weakened, we shall rule the seas!” she declares, her laughter echoing off the walls.

As you prepare to confront them, the tension in the air thickens. The officials, realizing they’ve been discovered, draw their weapons, and Morgathra summons a wave of dark energy, ready to unleash her wrath upon you.

As the battle ensues, the fate of Rivermere hangs in the balance. Will you defeat Morgathra and expose the corrupt officials, or will the town succumb to darkness? The choice is yours, brave adventurers. The tides of fate await your command!
