Tier 2 – The Curse of the Celestial Whirl

As the sun sets over the vibrant city of Eldoria, the air is filled with the sweet scent of candied apples and the distant sounds of laughter and music from the bustling fairground. Colorful banners flutter in the gentle breeze, and the bright lights of the rides illuminate the evening sky. However, beneath the festive atmosphere lies a growing unease, as whispers of strange occurrences have begun to circulate among the townsfolk.
Your party finds themselves drawn to the fairground, where a magnificent swing ride, known as the Celestial Whirl, stands at the center of the festivities. It is said that the ride is enchanted, granting those who dare to ride it visions of their deepest desires. But tonight, something feels amiss. Reports have surfaced of riders experiencing terrifying visions and, in some cases, vanishing altogether.
As your party approaches, they notice a crowd gathered near the ride, murmuring in concern. Police officers and paramedics are in attendance, attempting to calm the frightened patrons. A young girl, tears streaming down her face, clutches a stuffed bear and points toward the ride, claiming that her brother was taken by the swirling lights.
Your party must investigate the Celestial Whirl and uncover the source of the disturbances. As they delve deeper, they discover that the ride is powered by a magical artifact known as the Heart of the Whirl, which has been corrupted by dark forces. The artifact has begun to draw energy from the fears and desires of the riders, creating a rift between the material world and a shadowy realm.
To restore balance, the party must confront the malevolent entity that has taken residence within the Heart of the Whirl. This entity, known as the Shadow Wraith, feeds on fear and despair, growing stronger with each soul it ensnares. The party must navigate through the swirling illusions created by the Wraith, facing their own fears in a series of challenges before they can confront the creature itself.

– **Special Ability:** Fearful Illusion – Each round, the Wraith can create an illusion that forces one player to make a Wisdom saving throw (DC 14) or become frightened until the end of their next turn.
As the party battles the Shadow Wraith, they must also find a way to purify the Heart of the Whirl, using their skills and spells to dispel the dark magic that has tainted it. Only then can they save the lost souls and restore the fairground to its former glory.
