Tier 2 – The Curse of Grellford Ford

**Tier 2 play**

In the heart of the vibrant, magical realm of Eldoria, where lush forests teem with enchanted creatures and mystical rivers flow with shimmering waters, whispers of a tragedy have echoed through the towns and villages. The renowned rugby star, Tom Voyce, vanished without a trace while attempting to navigate the treacherous waters of the Grellford Ford, a notorious crossing known for its swift currents and hidden dangers.

As the sun sets, casting an ethereal glow over the land, the party finds themselves drawn to the small village of Willowbrook, where the townsfolk are gathered in hushed conversation. A sense of urgency fills the air, and the scent of damp earth and blooming wildflowers mingles with the tension of desperation. The villagers speak of a body found downstream, believed to be Tom’s, yet there are murmurs of foul play—rumors of a dark force haunting the waters, driven by envy and greed.

The party’s quest begins at the edge of the Grellford River, where the water churns violently, and the trees bend low as if trying to escape the oppressive atmosphere. The villagers implore the adventurers to investigate the mysterious circumstances surrounding Tom’s disappearance and to uncover the truth behind the eerie occurrences that have plagued the ford since the incident.

As the party approaches the riverbank, they notice a faint shimmer on the water’s surface, a magical aura that seems to pulse with energy. Suddenly, the tranquility is shattered as a spectral figure emerges from the depths—a Water Wraith, a vengeful spirit bound to the river, enraged by the disruption of its domain. The Wraith's form shifts with the currents, its mournful wails echoing like the cries of drowned souls.

**Water Wraith Stats:**

– **Hit Points:** 70

– **Armor Class:** 15

– **Attack:** Ethereal Touch (Melee Attack: +7 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 14 (2d8 + 5) necrotic damage)

– **Special Ability:** Water Form – The Wraith can move through water and is immune to non-magical attacks while in it.

To defeat the Water Wraith, the party must work together, using their skills to navigate the treacherous terrain and unleash spells or weapons imbued with magical energy. Perhaps a bard can inspire courage with a rousing tune, while a wizard conjures elemental magic to counter the Wraith's watery domain.

With the truth uncovered and the village’s gratitude in their hearts, the adventurers will leave Willowbrook, not just as heroes, but as bearers of hope, ready to face whatever challenges await them in this high magic, high fantasy world.
