Tier 2 – The Shadow Wraith of Thistledown

**Tier 2 play**

In the vibrant and mystical realm of Eldoria, where the skies shimmer with hues of violet and gold, a dark cloud looms over the once-peaceful village of Thistledown. The townsfolk have been plagued by a series of mysterious disappearances, with whispers of a sinister force lurking in the enchanted woods that border their homes. As heroes of this high-magic world, your party finds themselves drawn to Thistledown, where a reward of 500 gold pieces awaits those brave enough to uncover the truth.

Upon arrival, the village is alive with tension. The air is thick with the scent of damp earth and the sweet aroma of blooming nightshade. Flickering lanterns cast dancing shadows along cobblestone paths, while the distant sound of a mournful flute echoes through the streets. Villagers huddle in small groups, their faces etched with worry, recounting tales of a creature known as the Shadow Wraith—a malevolent spirit said to feast on the fears of its victims.

Your investigation begins at the local tavern, The Gilded Griffin, where the barkeep, a burly dwarf named Bronn, shares his insights. “Aye, it’s been a fortnight since the first soul vanished. They say the Wraith haunts the old ruins deep in the woods, where the light dares not tread. But beware, for it’s not just the spirit you’ll face; the forest is alive with other dangers.”

As your party delves deeper into the woods, the atmosphere shifts. The trees, ancient and twisted, seem to whisper secrets as a chilling breeze rustles their leaves. Glowing fungi illuminate the path, casting an eerie light that dances along the underbrush. Suddenly, a rustle in the bushes draws your attention—a pack of Shadow Hounds, fierce and ethereal, emerges to protect their territory.

After overcoming the Shadow Hounds, your party reaches the ruins, an ancient structure overgrown with vines and shrouded in mist. The air grows colder, and an unsettling silence envelops you. As you explore, you find remnants of a long-lost civilization—crumbling statues and faded murals depicting a great battle against darkness.

Suddenly, the Shadow Wraith manifests before you, a swirling mass of shadow and despair, its eyes glowing with a malevolent light. It lets out a bone-chilling wail, feeding on the fears that linger in your hearts.
