Tier 2 – The Shadow Over Glimmerhaven

**Tier 2 play**

In the vibrant realm of Eldoria, where the streets shimmer with arcane lights and echoes of ancient spells ripple through the air, your party finds themselves in the bustling town of Glimmerhaven. This idyllic town is known not only for its enchanting vistas but also for the recent rumors surrounding the famed Celestial Market, a place where rare magical artifacts and potions can be acquired. However, an ominous shadow looms over the town; whispers of a dark force threatening to disrupt the harmony of Glimmerhaven have reached the ears of your adventurers.

As the sun sets, casting a golden hue over the cobblestone streets, the mayor of Glimmerhaven, a stout gnome named Mayor Tilly Muddlewhisk, summons your party to the town hall. Her eyes sparkle with both fear and determination as she explains the situation. “A powerful sorcerer known as Malakar the Malevolent has taken residence in the Whispering Woods. He seeks to harness the energy of the Celestial Market for his own nefarious purposes!” she implores. “We cannot let him succeed!”

Your quest begins as you set out towards the Whispering Woods, a labyrinthine forest where the trees seem to lean closer, their twisted branches creating shadows that play tricks on the eyes. The air is thick with the scent of moss and damp earth, and the distant hoots of owls echo ominously through the canopy. Along the way, the party encounters curious magical creatures—glowing fireflies that guide the way, and mischievous pixies that attempt to lead them astray, testing their resolve and cunning.

As the party delves deeper into the woods, they stumble upon a clearing where an ancient stone altar stands, overgrown with vines and pulsating with a dark energy—the result of Malakar's dark magic. Here, they face a swarm of Shadow Wraiths, ethereal beings born of Malakar’s dark sorcery, that swoop down to protect their master.

**Basic Stats for Shadow Wraiths:**

– **Armor Class:** 12

– **Hit Points:** 27 (6d8)

– **Speed:** 0 ft., fly 60 ft. (hover)

– **Attack:** Shadow Strike: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 11 (2d10) necrotic damage.

– **Abilities:** Etherealness (can shift between the material and ethereal plane).

After defeating the wraiths, the party discovers Malakar's lair further into the woods, a dark cave adorned with glowing runes inscribed in the ancient language of magic. Here, they must confront Malakar, who is mid-ritual, attempting to siphon the Celestial Market’s energy for his own gain.

Malakar, with his flowing robes and wild hair, wields a staff topped with a pulsating orb of energy. He is a formidable foe, capable of casting spells that distort reality.

**Basic Stats for Malakar the Malevolent:**

– **Armor Class:** 15

– **Hit Points:** 85 (10d10 + 30)

– **Speed:** 30 ft.

– **Attacks:**

– Arcane Bolt: +7 to hit, range 120 ft., one target. Hit: 21 (3d10) force damage.

– Spellcasting: Malakar can cast spells up to 5th level, including Fireball and Hold Person.

As the party battles Malakar, they can also interact with the environment, using the glowing runes to weaken him or turn the tide of battle in their favor. Tactics and teamwork will be crucial as they seek to thwart his plans and restore peace to Glimmerhaven.

Should your adventurers succeed, they will be celebrated as heroes, their names forever etched into the annals of Eldoria, while the townsfolk rejoice in the magic of the Celestial Market once more. The adventure will not only test their mettle but also their bonds, unearthing hidden strengths and forging lasting friendships along the way.
