Tier 2 – The Siren’s Song A Quest in Eldergrove

**Tier 2 play**

As the sun dips below the horizon, casting a warm golden hue over the bustling town of Eldergrove, the air crackles with a hint of magic. The scent of blooming nightshade and the distant sound of a lute being strummed fills the air, inviting adventurers to the heart of the village where tales of wonder and danger intertwine.

The townsfolk whisper of a recent string of mysterious disappearances—children vanishing from their homes under the cloak of night. The local tavern, The Gilded Griffin, is abuzz with rumors of shadowy figures seen lurking near the ancient Whispering Woods, a thicket teeming with enchantment and danger. The mayor, a stout dwarf named Borin Stonefist, has put out a call for brave souls to investigate. He promises a handsome reward for anyone who can uncover the truth and bring the children back safely.

As the party gathers in the tavern, they are approached by a nervous mother, her eyes glistening with tears. “My lad, Tomas, went missing last night,” she implores, her voice trembling. “He said he heard music—sweet, haunting music—coming from the woods. Please, I beg you, find him!”

The entrance to the Whispering Woods looms before the adventurers, its gnarled trees twisting like ancient guardians, their leaves shimmering with a faint iridescence. As they step into the woods, the air grows cooler, and the sounds of the village fade, replaced by a soft, melodic whisper that seems to beckon them deeper into the darkness.

**Exploration Component:**

The party must navigate through the Whispering Woods, facing challenges such as enchanted vines that try to ensnare them and mischievous fae creatures that play tricks. They can find clues by following magical trails of light or gathering herbs that grant temporary buffs. The deeper they venture, the stronger the pull of the enchanting music becomes, luring them with promises of secrets and treasures.

**Enemy Encounter:**

As they near the source of the music, the party stumbles upon a clearing bathed in ethereal moonlight. Here, they confront the source of the enchantment: a powerful Siren named Lysandra, who has been using her captivating songs to lure children into her lair. Her beauty is mesmerizing, but her intentions are sinister.

**Boss Enemy Stats:**

– **Lysandra, the Enchanting Siren**

– HP: 80

– AC: 15

– Attack: Enchanted Song (Charm effect; DC 15 Wisdom save or become charmed for 1 minute)

– Multiattack: Uses Enchanted Song and then strikes with a Lure of Waters (1d8 + 4 psychic damage)

– Actions:

– **Charm**: Target hears her song and must succeed on a Wisdom saving throw or be charmed for 1 minute. Charmed targets cannot attack her and must use their movement to approach her.

– **Whirlwind of Whispers**: All creatures within a 15-foot radius must make a DC 14 Wisdom saving throw or take 3d6 psychic damage and be frightened until the end of their next turn.

The adventurers must use their wits and courage to overcome Lysandra’s charm and rescue the missing children before they succumb to her hypnotic allure. Will they emerge from the Whispering Woods victorious, or will they fall under the spell of the Siren’s song? The fate of Eldergrove hangs in the balance.
