Tier 2 – Shadows of Letby

**Tier 2 play**

In the heart of the mystical kingdom of Eldoria, where the rivers shimmer with arcane energy and the forests whisper secrets of old, lies the tranquil town of Brookshire. Known for its serene beauty and bustling markets, Brookshire has recently been afflicted by a dark shadow that looms over its residents. A series of mysterious disappearances and strange occurrences have left the townsfolk in a state of fear.

The adventure begins in the town square, where the vibrant colors of market stalls contrast sharply with the anxious faces of townspeople. As the sun sets, casting golden rays across cobblestones, a sense of urgency fills the air. The party is approached by a distraught woman named Elara, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. She implores the adventurers to investigate the old Letby Hospital on the outskirts of town—a once-revered healing center that has now fallen into disrepair and is rumored to be haunted.

As the party makes their way through the winding streets, the atmosphere shifts. The air grows cooler, and a thick fog begins to envelop them, swirling mysteriously around their ankles. The path to the hospital is lined with gnarled trees, their branches reaching like skeletal fingers toward the dimming sky.

Upon arrival, the party finds the hospital shrouded in an eerie silence, its crumbling facade a testament to the tragedies that once took place within. The entrance creaks open as if inviting them inside. The interior is dimly lit, with flickering lanterns casting long shadows on the walls adorned with faded murals of healing and hope. However, the air carries a heavy weight of sorrow, and the whispers of the lost echo in the hallways.

As the adventurers explore, they uncover clues about the hospital's dark past—a tale of negligence and tragedy during the tenure of Sir Duncan Nichol, the former chairman of the board. Rumors suggest that his personal failures led to the suffering of countless patients, and some believe his restless spirit haunts the hospital, seeking redemption for his sins.

The party soon discovers a hidden chamber within the hospital, where the malevolent force behind the disappearances dwells. The entity, a twisted manifestation of despair and regret, has taken the form of a wraith known as the "Shadow of Letby." It feeds on the fears and emotions of the living, growing stronger with each passing moment.

This reduction lasts until the target finishes a long rest.)

As the party confronts the Shadow of Letby, they must use their wits and skills to dispel the darkness. They can discover ways to weaken the wraith by finding remnants of the hospital's past—old medical records, heartfelt letters from grieving families, or even performing a ritual of forgiveness in the chamber of lost souls.

The climax of the adventure unfolds in a battle of light versus dark, where the party must confront not only the wraith but also the moral complexities of Sir Duncan Nichol's legacy. Will they bring peace to the restless spirits, or will they succumb to the despair that lurks within the walls of the Letby Hospital?

As the echoes of the past intertwine with the present, the adventurers will find that their choices resonate far beyond the confines of the hospital, shaping the fate of Brookshire and its people.
