Tier 2 – The Festival of Lumaria

**Tier 2 play**

In the enchanted realm of Eldoria, nestled amongst towering crystalline spires and lush, bioluminescent forests, the Festival of Lumaria is on the horizon. The air is thick with anticipation as the townsfolk prepare for a celebration unlike any other, centered around the legendary Night of Whispers, where tales of old come to life and the barriers between realms become thin.

However, whispers of trouble have stirred among the citizens. Strange occurrences have emerged: livestock disappearing, eerie shadows flitting at the edge of the forest, and unsettling dreams haunting the sleep of many. The town council, desperate for answers, has summoned a brave group of adventurers to uncover the truth behind the disturbances and ensure the festival proceeds without a hitch.

As the party arrives in the quaint village of Whistledown, they are greeted by the aroma of spiced pastries and the sounds of children laughing. The villagers, their faces a mixture of hope and worry, share tales of a dark figure seen lurking in the woods, a creature spoken of only in hushed tones—the Shadow Weaver, said to weave nightmares into reality.

**Objective**: The party is tasked with investigating the forest, discovering the nature of the Shadow Weaver, and stopping it before it can ruin the festival and plunge the town into eternal darkness.

**Exploration Component**: The journey leads through the Whispering Woods, where glowing mushrooms line the path, illuminating ancient carvings on the trees that tell stories of old. As the party ventures deeper, they will encounter mystical creatures—friendly fey who offer guidance, as well as hostile will-o'-wisps guarding sacred grounds. Clues hidden among the flora will indicate the location of the Shadow Weaver’s lair, a cave adorned with shimmering threads that pulse with dark energy.

**Enemy Encounter**: At the heart of the cave, the adventurers will confront the Shadow Weaver, a formidable foe shrouded in shadows, capable of casting illusions and summoning spectral minions to fight alongside it.

**Basic Stats for the Shadow Weaver**:

– **Armor Class**: 15

– **Hit Points**: 60

– **Attack**: Shadow Tendril (Melee Spell Attack: +7 to hit, reach 10 ft., one target. Hit: 2d8 + 4 necrotic damage).

– **Special Ability**: Nightmarish Illusion (Recharge 5–6): The Shadow Weaver can create an illusion of a creature or environment that the party must overcome with a Wisdom saving throw (DC 15) or be frightened for 1 minute.

As the adventurers battle the Shadow Weaver, they can discover that it was once a guardian spirit corrupted by a vile curse, and defeating it may offer an opportunity to heal and restore balance to the forest. The party can choose to break the curse rather than destroy the creature, leading to a deeper narrative connection with the realm.

With clever roleplay, meaningful choices, and dynamic combat, the session promises to be a thrilling adventure filled with magic, mystery, and the celebration of heroism in the face of darkness. Will the party save the Festival of Lumaria, or will shadows prevail? The outcome lies in their hands.
